Merry Christmas

It seems our life turned into a game, not a fun one sometimes. It came with lots of twists and turns. And with the roll of the dice, life changed suddenly.

Jennifer is now a bookkeeper for a property management company. It’s a good job, very challenging, and best of all, the environment is a good one. She feels appreciated and valued as a person and an employee. The only drawback is that it’s a 30 minutes drive.

Jeremy had surgery on his left knee to repair a torn ACL. In the second night of summer football camp, during scrimmages, he got hurt.  Derek and Tyler both had their wisdom teeth removed this year. Unfortunately no funny stuff while they were under the influence of anesthesia

Derek is 20 and trying to decide what to do with his life. He’s still sport fanatic and always has to have the last word.

Tyler is a senior. He lettered in football, basketball, and track, making it to the State Track meet in shot put. Not bad for a first year thrower! He’s competed at region in three very different events. He recently got to play on the Utah Jazz court with his team. It was pretty cool for the rest of us to sit 5th row from the floor for the game.

Jeremy is a freshman. Because of his injury he is unable to participate in sporting events until February, just in time for track season. It’s been hard for him, but he’s found ways to still be involved with his team and found some new friends as well. He’s dying to drive, expecting a driving permit is imminent.

Cameron started junior high and sings in the choir. He also plays football, basketball and track. He wants to be a jumper in track. He’s an excellent student. Now if we could get some scout stuff going so both Cameron and Jeremy could move forward and earn Eagles

We lost Big Red: our truck. It decided to die on the side of the road. In addition, both Derek and Tyler experienced their first accidents. Thank goodness they were minor.

Chris‘s back got to the point he saw a neurosurgeon. Then he had to resign after 16 years of service because he couldn’t perform the duties required of law enforcement, and did not have surgery. He is now working at a residential treatment center for boys in Delta.  Quite a change for him as well, but he loves it. He is happier and under less stress. In fact he was named employee of the month, the first month he was there!

Despite the struggles, disappointments and changes in our lives this year, it is a wonderful life. The Lord blessed us in unimaginable ways. He knew we needed changes and helped us through them. Jennifer and Chris are much happier- it is interesting that they switched roles with Chris working with teenagers and Jennifer in an office.  We got to experience the kindness of neighbors, serve others in small ways, and realize we don’t have it as bad as it looked.  The Payson Temple brought opportunities for the boys to participate in a cultural celebration.
