Goodbye Scooter.. Hello Walking (sort of)

You never know how much you walk and depend on getting places independently until you can't. I've spent the last two months in a cast, not allowed to put weight on my foot. Lets just say it was getting old fast. Today was good news. I can walk..in my walking boot. I shouldn't walk without it.

SO today I walked and walked and walked. The mall, the football game bleachers, . My ankle hurts, my body hurts, and its so slow getting anywhere, but I'm glad to be on two feet again. At some point today I felt like I was forgetting something.  I guess it was my crutches that I don't have to use anymore.

In 3 weeks I get orthotics and go from there. Yippee!!

UPDATE
December 1:
Its been 4 months today since the surgery. I got rid of the scooter on Oct 2. I officially could walk without a boot on Oct 21, the day I got the orthotics. I can walk without a limp, most of the time. I've even tried jogging  for a minute and I move faster that way than trying to walk fast. My foot still swells after a long day. The orthotics seem to help. I think I'm ready to try exercising again, like Zumba then work back into crossfit. I have to think of progress in weeks, not days.  I'm glad I had it done but not looking forward to doing the other one one day.
