The next phase in knee surgery recovery

This knee brace is his new best friend during any activity. He is still not cleared for running, jumping, quick movements left or right (cutting).  This is for walking or hiking. Maybe just in time for hunting season.  This brace is also a VERY EXPENSIVE custom fitted knee brace.  Our physical therapy office people are awesome. When we learned we were losing our insurance, they quickly got it approved through the insurance company and ordered it earlier than usual, and billed it to the insurance before it ended.

We are the champions....

Cameron's 7th grade football team had an interesting season. Unfortunately they didn't win enough game s to play in the A bracket. They did get to play in the B bracket and today they won the championship.

Running fool....

this summer I promised myself to do more exercise. The only thing I could think of was to sign myself up for some 5ks. I ran in the Ute Stampede 5k, the Temple to Temple 5k in Provo, and also did the Juab County Fair Biathlon. I did these without really training, even though I had intentions to do so.

I finished them all.
The Ute Stampede 5k was great. I just tried to complete it. I finished in 42 minutes or so. Not bad without training.

The Temple to Temple 5k was so crowded. I did that with Tyler and Cameron,  Lisa and her kids and Darlene. There were so many people that it was hard to actually run. Cameron stayed with me the whole time.  It was fun.  Jeremy came up, under duress, and didn't participate. He could have, since he wasn't having surgery until the next week. We had BBQ at Lisa's afterwards.

I thought I might die the first mile of the run in the biathlon. I rode 13 miles then had to run a 3.1 miles. I had to walk the first mile. Then the last half mile, I was in tears for a few minutes because I was almost done. I told myself to suck it up. I would not finish crying, for heavens sake!. I took first in my age division, and was second to last with a time of 1:22:32 They were finished with awards by the time I came in. In fact when I got back from my bike part, someone was finishing their run!  How depressing. I got a medal and $5. I was just glad to finish. That was my goal.

Mini Vacation

We decided to spend the weekend in Beaver right before school started. Cameron's first football game of the season was in Beaver at 9am. Who wants to leave at 6am, so I found a motel and we stayed over.

The game went ok. Cam caught an awesome pass, but the team still lost. We then decided to go to Cedar Breaks. What a beautiful place. Its over 10000 feet in altitude. Jeremy didn't want to get out of the car and wouldn't go on the one hike we took.  What a party pooper.

The power went out in Beaver Saturday night due to a lightning strike at a power substation. We were without power for 8 hours. From 6pm to 2am. Only our end of town was out of power. The other end was fine so we went to eat there. Afterwards the boys went swimming until it was too dark to see. Thank goodness for a flashlight in the car and lights on our cell phones. Most of us turned in early.

Sunday we checked out and headed home. I was hoping to do more site seeing and we did take a road from Beaver to Junction (half of it was a dirt road) That was pretty, but instead of going to Freemont we went through Aurora for lunch and went home.

That's the extent of our vacations all summer long. We didn't even go camping once.
