Football Schedule 2015

Just in case anyone is interested. Here is the football schedule for Tyler and Cameron. Jeremy is out until next year due to his knee injury.

Tyler
Tyler is a lineman, however he is not starting. He is only playing offense (tackle), punt team and extra point team.  A junior has the spot:(  Unfortunately it seems the junior class is "better" than the senior class that are bigger and more experienced.  At least Tyler isn't the only senior being shafted; he did get more playing time than some. I suppose anything can change, it is only the first game of the season.

All Games 7pm.
Aug 21 @ Millard  WIN 34-13, called again due to lightning.  (happened last year but this time we got half way through the third quarter) Tyler did well, made his blocks. In a fake punt attempt, Tyler made a key block to help the ball carrier get the first down.
Aug 29 Grantsville WIN 41-20 special teams
Sept 4 @ Salem Hills WIN 38-21 special teams, defense and offense
Homecoming decorations

First home game of the season. this should have been both boys in uniform.

homecoming game

Thanks to some friends on the field, I now have a few great action shots like these.
Homecoming game against Richfield.

Sept 11 Cedar LOSS 20-21 so close. special teams
Sept 18  Richfield (homecoming) WIN 43-6 Tyler got the most playing time he's had all year. He actually played defense mostly, but towards the end of the game, he played offense as well. He did very well
Sept 25 Delta WIN 20-18 Shouldn't have been that close. Team played terrible! (only played special teams)
Oct 2 @ Canyon View WIN 36-26 (only played special teams)
Thursday night Oct 8   North Sanpete (Senior Night) 21-27 loss in overtime.
Wednesday night Oct 14 @ Union  WIN 49-48
Oct 23 @ Manti  WIN 14-12

Tournament
Oct 30  home against Union WIN 41-14
Nov 6 AT SUU against Juan Diego Loss 28-13.

Cameron 7th grade
waiting his turn
Cameron plays on the CUFL central Utah football league that travels all over central Utah. He plays receiver and corner.  There are a lot more kids on the team this year. Unfortunately, Cameron rotates in, but not often. Since the first two games, he hasn't had a pass thrown to him. He's had less and less playing time. He's not one to push his way in to play, but the rest of the kids do and he gets left in the back, barely getting the requisite 8 plays.

Aug 15 @ Beaver  9am LOSS 0-12. Cameron did have an awesome catch and made some headway for his team. He's making his blocks as well.
Aug 26 @ North Sevier  7pm  WIN 30-0
Aug 29 Manti 1030am :LOSS 0-12
Sept 2  @ Gunnison 7pm LOSS 6-8
Sept 12 North Sanpete  9am LOSS  12-22
Sept 16 South Sevier 7pm cancelled
Sept 19 @ Millard 12pm WIN 28-0 didn't even get his 8 plays. He was very upset.
Sept 30 Richfield LOSS 18-35

warm up before game
Cam is in the red cleats and socks in the upper right
Tournament
Oct 3 Semifinals  against North Sevier WIN 36-18. Lots of playing time. Two pick -sixes in a minute to blow the game wide open, not by Cameron, though.
Oct 10 Finals against North Sanpete in Fillmore WIN!!! 12-2

Out goes the truck... new job for mom...

As well as Jeremy having surgery, this week has been so much more.
I got a job working part time for LDS employment resource center in springville. on Tuesday July 21. I called the lady that I thought was helping me set up a business partnership so I could learn bookkeeping/accounting skills, she said this job would be great. It is temporary, part-time, and I was supposed to work myself out of the job. In reality, I am supposed to continue looking for a job and can work up to 90 days at the center.  It truly is an amazing resource teh church has put together and i just don't think very many people think about it or know what it can do. It helps people become self-sufficient by providing training on resumes, interviews, networking. It also helps people find money for training and college. It helps ex-offenders, newly graduated people, those laid-off, those changing careers (like me) and anyone in need. I am so impressed. There are scholarship classes mostly for high school kids, but even those going back to school. I have signed up my boys for that class. I have learned so much. The service missionaries and the manager of the office have taken time to talk to me, encourage me, teach me, and help me in any way they can. I contact companies on the ldsjobs website to verify information, list jobs, or help them find candidates and anything else they might need.  i nearly had a job the first day I called someone--if only I spoke spanish. It would have been for a accounting clerk at a payday loans place.

So over the weekend I was looking on ldsjobs and found about 4-5 jobs that looked like soemthing i could do, so I applied. ON monday during jeremy's surgery I did a few other things job related, like read the book "City of Influence" and contacted a few other companies verifying that my application/resume had been received.  I don't feel comfortable contacting people I don't know, but i tried. Believe it or not, I got an email asking for an interview the next day (Tues 7/28). I wasn't sure how I would swing it with jeremy just getting home that morning, but I went, talked with them for half an hour and left thinking it wasn't for me and I wouldn't get it.  USS properties is a property management company owning several storage unit facilities and other places I think. They were looking for a bookkeeper.

On wednesday I received a phone call offering me the job on a trial basis. It is such a small company less than 6 people in the main office they want to make sure we get along, I can do the job, etc. I start monday working part time. At the end of the month we'll decide if this is going to work. I can still work at the employment center as well. Its in mapleton and takes about 35 minutes to get there. I am hoping it all works out and eventually I can do some of the work from home. The only bad part is there are no benefits (medical, dental, retirement, etc).

In other news
Derek finally was ready to get rid of his beautiful truck. He was car poor.  He found one he liked in nephi, got pre-approved for a loan, and was ready to do it, but he had to go back to work in SLC. He came on on Wednesday night and was ready to close the loan on thursday morning. BUT... the bank would not loan more than 4700 for that particular car. He was trading in the truck, but taking a 6000 loss.and we couldn't finance the remaining balance. He was so mad and discouraged.  When I got home from work, we talked, and among other things, I said relist the truck on KSL. Within in 30 minutes he had 3 calls. One was extremely interested and willing to meet us in Payson Friday morning. At the same time I saw a 1997 honda that could be a good car for us, him, etc.

Friday morning  we left for Spanish Fork to meet the guy to buy the truck, sight unseen. We also went to santaquin to test drive the honda, which I told her i wanted. Of all the stupid things to do, i left my purse in the car along with my phone. I had no way to tell derek what happened, or contact the owner of the car.  i used the phone at a gas station, and called home so the boys could call derek so i could tell him what happened. apparently the lady realized i had left my purse and did answer my phone when derek called. i met her  and got my stuff back, grateful for her honesty!!!! i hurried to meet derek and the buyer of the truck. i had to go to our bank to get the rest of the payoff for the truck, and without my ID we would've been screwed. A deep sigh of relief for me and and sigh of sadness for derek when the guy drove off in his truck. I then had derek drop me off at work, so he could go to work in SLC, he brought me lunch, and did my job until chris came to get me. We picked up the new to us car. We sold the truck for 3000 more than the dealer was going to give us. That is great. Prayers are answered, eventually.

Today I got the car inspected. Monday or so we'll get it registered and insured. It would be great if derek just took my white nissan or this honda civic 5 speed, but he really wants to try for the one he saw. I told him to go in telling him the bank will give me this much, and I have this much. Take it or leave it. Not sure how that will go.

I'm not sure I can handle much more excitement, but  I do start my new job Monday, The boys register for school in a week, and school starts the 19th. Cameron's first football game is 15th in Beaver. Tyler's first football game is 21st at Millard High. I do worry about Jeremy and Cameron being home alone with a recent surgery.  Jeremy was miserable yesterday, no ice, no pain medicine of any kind. Today hes in bed with ice feeling much better. I'm not sure how Jeremy will get to all his PT appointments and home from school. Chris has and EMG test on Wednesday (8/5). Not sure what that will bring either. I hope everything will work out the right way with me working so far away again.

ACL Reconstruction Surgery.... too young

Before surgery
Jeremy had surgery on July 27 in Nephi. There were three ACL surgeries that day, among others, and we were the first one. We had be there at 5:30am. It was an interesting morning. first, no one was there to register us until 6am, but the nurses got him started, had him change into the "gown", shaved his leg, and got the IV in all before I got back there. I had to wait at the desk for 20 minutes or more. around 630 the anesthesia people came and took him to get the nerve block, and said they would bring him back. They didn't bring him back and i sat in a little cubicle with no one. I learned more about the procedure, etc from the guy next door. I was so mad, I walked out  at 8am and went home to eat. Chris and Derek were wondering what was wrong. I vented, ate, and went back to wait some more. Eventually they moved me to a room and said Jeremy would be coming shortly. I waited some more. Chris and Derek came in around 10. Finally the surgeon came in and said it was done, Jeremy was in recovery, and everything went smoothly. Jeremy came in about 45 minutes after the dr left, just as Chris and Derek were going to leave. We had an ice pack machine from when derek had surgery on his shoulder and i was hoping to use it, but it wasn't working properly so we got the one from the hospital.

I left again around lunch time to check on Cameron, and eat, then went back. He had to have oxygen for most of the time while he slept.
Jeremy slept until around 330, he got up to go use the bathroom, ate and continued eating and felt pretty good for a while. They brought him lunch, but it sat untouched (chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, veggies, roll, etc) . We had to scrounge up snacks until dinner time. his dinner was weird: wild rice, cottage cheese, and fruit on the main plate with roll, ice cream, etc.

I left again after dinner so I could eat. Chris and Derek went to visit him.  Tyler worked all day and had a soccer game that night and Cameron had football practice that night. i went back to sleep at the hospital; Jeremy wanted me to stay with him. He asked what took so long to come back. he needed to use the bathroom and wouldn't call the nurses! He wanted my help to get him in the room. So funny.

We slept ok considering the location.
The next morning the Dr. came back in to talk to us, and said we could go when ever we wanted. the physical therapist also came in to walk Jeremy down the hall, on crutches of course. He also helped him change into his clothes. At this time, we discovered the ball filled with nerve block was still clamped. That means that it hadn't been working for 24 hours!  Amazingly enough Jeremy wasn't in any pain. He'd taken only one pill on Monday, and took another right before we left.

ready to go home
We got home around 1030 and he went to sleep.  Throughout the course of the past few days, the nerve block leaked so I don't think it ever worked right. He took a few pills, but is doing well. He went to Physical therapy on Wednesday and came home sore and with lots of exercises to do.

He went to an hour or two of unity camp (football camp) on Thursday night and Friday afternoon, but of course, he can't do anything besides watch. I think he is really bummed, but won't come out and say it. Tyler has been nice, letting Jeremy play his playstation. He hasn't been using the ice as often as he should. He isn't all that hungry right now. and hes bored. I was in his shoes at this time last year.

Its a six month recovery --minimum--depending on how diligent he is in doing therapy and exercises. We are shooting for Track, football and basketball are out.

scars to remember it all.
He's healing quite well. The most important part is doing his therapy, to strengthen his leg. He needs to ride a bike everyday. He is beyond the critical time period where he could re-injure it because it was so weak, Agility moves will start soon. He will be able to start jogging at around 4 months. We've ordered the special ACL knee brace, which he will wear during sports for a while.  THAT Is after he is cleared to play.

surgery...

Football is awesome, but terrible, too.  Jeremy is the unlucky one this year. Tore the ACL in his left knee and requires surgery.

Derek dislocated his shoulder at the same camp three years ago.

Independence Day Celebrations

July 4 brought quite a few happenings.
Earlier in the week was Five Star football (June 29-July2) camp for Jeremy and Tyler. It was a good camp, however Jeremy hurt his knee the second night at scrimmages. We are uncertain as to whether he tore his ACL, Currently (July 10) he is in physical therapy and must wear a knee brace. MORE NEWS SOON>>>

Day 3
Jeremy #81

My brother Jim came into town for the week. He was bringing Caden to stay in Utah by himself (with grandparents and cousins). I took the boys up on Friday afternoon and went to the fireworks show at USU stadium with Jim and Caden. Ryan Shuppe and the Rubberband was playing and I love them.  The fireworks were awesome.  Saturday we went to the cache valley cruise in car show. Jeremy's knee was hurting so he didn't come with us even though I know he loves cars. Later we had a BBQ, with everyone in town. All my brothers were in town at he same time for the first time in a few years so of course there are pictures.  To cool off most of the kids went to Mack Park to play in the water and cool off. Jeremy played too, he just took off the brace. I hoped he wouldn't do any more harm to his knee. Sunday morning was a rainy day. Derek drove from yuba to visit. What a surprise.  I think he and Jim had a lot to talk about.  We went to the late church, but derek didn't come. I guess he and Brian visited. We ended getting home around 10pm. We stopped by Logan and Brigham city temples for  few minutes. Logan  was raining when we left and a rainbow was over the temple.  Pretty cool.

Car troubles. it was quite an eventful week for our vehicles. it all started with Derek getting a flat tire on his truck on Saturday night. He borrowed my car (Nissan) so he could get to work and we could fix  his truck.  Monday I got the tire fixed, then had to drive our truck to Provo for check up for Tylers wisdom teeth. It was a 30 second checkup... what a waste of time.  The truck decided not to climb the hills on the way up.  I needed to stop at DI for a drop-off and had a few other errands, but we ran out of time. It drove home just fine.  On the same night Jeremy hurt his knee, Derek called to say my car died on the off ramp near his grandparents house. David towed him to the house, and the next morning Derek was supposed to be at work at Yuba, so he rode the train and I picked him up in Provo. then as he was driving down, he got told he didn't have to work after all.. so much for all the hurry. he looked at cars instead, since he is dire need to sell his truck.... (too much money).  Anyway, my car needed a new alternator, so David changed it and then the next day drove it to Provo so we could pick it up.  I had a few errands to run so I stayed to shop. Chris called to say he ran out of gas near Mona. (we have a bad gas gauge in the Pacifica and he drove too long) I bought a gas can, fixed it up and drove down to meet him. The gas worked like a charm and he was ready to leave, BUT my car wouldn't start!!. We tried jumping it, but no power. We ended up calling AAA for a tow. It was so hot 100+ and Chris was nice enough to stay until the tow truck came, even though he's been there longer.  The next day the mechanic said it was a bad alternator- so Chris drove to autozone to get trade it out.  It works great now!

Chris had another appointment with the back physical therapist and I went (so I could get my car back from David)  He was hurting a lot more than usual. I noticed he was having a hard time getting up and when he stood up, he was leaning and looked uncomfortable. The therapist did a few other checks and it was noted that Chris has decreased muscle, feeling, and more weakness in his left leg. With that in mind, he called the neurosurgeons office to recommend Chris be seen sooner rather than later. The pain management doctor also called. We haven't heard from the surgeons office yet, but hopefully soon. I keep praying someone can find the cause and solve the problem for the pain in his back. He needs to be able to go back to full duty or find something else....

No job for me either.  LDS employment services said that they would place me in a company for on the job training and also set me up with QuickBooks and Excel courses. So far nothing yet. I'm not sure why. I also keep applying. My last check in Aug 31...I'm getting a little anxious...

turkey hunter

Chris has decided that he needs to hunt more than deer or elk. So the past few years he's got wild turkey licenses for him and Tyler.  Well this year he got one.

It sat in our freezer for over a week, until he could take it to the taxidermist. I guess we'll have a wildlife museum in our house...

in other news,

Cameron won a gun at the WTF banquet (wild turkey federation) Chris is a member of the planning committee for the banquet. I may have a few other hunters, Jeremy and Cameron just need to take hunters safety course.
