Jeremy central utah traveling team (feb-april)  Am I sick of basketball yet? He had to try out for this team and of course made it since it is the same kids as the Utah County team he played on. Gunnison did not have a 6th grade team so we didn't play at least 2 games.

We missed the first 3 games though since we went to Disneyland as soon as Tyler's season was over.**

Senior-itis

Derek is a senior this year. He is so anxious to be done with this and move on to bigger and better things at the University of Utah. Of course he must be accepted there, get some money to go there, and stuff like that. He chose not to retake the ACT the morning of the test. He also chose not to take any academic classes this year. He thinks he's graduating early, but not unless he has a full-time job to occupy his time. He's getting really good at flexing his independence, not always in the ways his parents think he should or wish he would.  I hope he's ready; his parents are waiting to see what happens next.

Merry Christmas 2012

Another year has passed with lots of fun. Everyone got a little older and somewhat wiser. Some got taller, others got faster, some of us funnier, and the rest a bit ornerier. We hope you have a great year to come. Thanks for being our friends and loving us. 

2012 by the numbers

1 5k Jennifer ran in her first and was beat by Tyler who finished 20 minutes faster.

1 CNA Jennifer passed her test and can now work as a certified nursing assistant.. .maybe she should with the way work is going this year...

1 dislocated shoulder Derek did this at football camp this summer and missed half the games this season.

1 Cub Scout Cameron is a bear scout (and two leaders Jennifer is cub master and Chris is the assistant)

2 Deaths at Yuba this year

2 retainers: Tyler got his braces off a month ago

2 high school students Tyler is a freshman and Derek is a senior

2 eagle scouts: yep Derek finally was awarded his Eagle in February and of course Chris has his

3 girl crazy boys: Jeremy is always hanging out with girls wishing he could date already. The girl next door is really cute and so is her friend...

3^rd place Tyler competed in the state Hershey track meet in the 800m! Derek competed with the high school team and did the best he ever has nearly lettering.

4 priesthood holders:  Jeremy was ordained a deacon this month, Tyler is a teacher, Derek is priest and Chris is an elder.

A million football games:  all 4 boys played and some weeks there were 4 different games all over the state

A billion basketball games: everyone played this year in the winter and now it’s starting over.   

BYU vs Utah

A flag flies in our house during these rivalry games that says.  A House Divided with the BYU and Utah logos. It is so true. In this spirit, a great gift was given to us for Christmas: tickets to the BYU vs. UTAH basketball game.  We enjoyed ourselves very much. Utah was leading nearly the entire time, sometimes by 12 to 14 points. Neither team was shooting spectacularly well, but  BYU made a great comeback and won by 3. It was so loud.  Of course the BYU fans in our house were pleased and the Utah fans were disgusted with the outcome. So next time, can we get a guarantee that our team will win?  I wanted a family picture, but certain people weren't happy with the results of the game and left quickly. THANKS JENSEN'S for the great gift.

Jeremy turns 12

December always brings the fun of Christmas, but before that Jeremy has a birthday. this year he turned 12. With all the busyness of basketball season, it almost went by without acknowledgment. However, we celebrated quietly. He got money for his birthday which he always loves to have, and lots of mail and phone calls. He is 12 now and today he was ordained a deacon. I now have men in my house who hold each office of the priesthood.

I think the day football ended for high school was the same day basketball started for Jeremy. He is playing on a competitive leaque in Utah county. They have done well both losing and winning. Tyler tried out for the freshman team and made it. They've had one game but more are coming this week. Basketball season goes until february or so. Can't wait. Pictures and schedules coming soon.
